Scientist, Chemical Biology

Kronos Bio seeks a highly motivated Research Scientist to join its chemical biology team located in Cambridge, MA. The chemical biology group is uniquely situated at Kronos Bio, facilitating the drug discovery pipeline from initial screening through hit-to-lead and into lead optimization. As a member of the chemical biology team, this individual is expected to lead projects building chemical probes to enable and inform core oncology programs. The optimal candidate can comfortably assist and communicate with Medicinal Chemists, Biologists, and Data Scientists. Central to the Chemical Biology group is the company’s core technology, the small molecule microarray (SMM). As a secondary responsibility, this position supports SMM screening and will play a pivotal role in further advancing and developing the technology. A successful candidate thrives in a multidisciplinary environment, has strong experimental skills, good communication ability, an eagerness for learning, and a desire to contribute to a strong culture of teamwork and collaboration.


  • Lead projects building chemical probes to enable and inform core oncology programs
  • Apply Chemical Biology knowledge and methods to assist in target deconvolution and identification
  • Conduct synthetic organic chemistry reactions
  • Be able to understand failed experiments and propose modifications
  • Contribute new ideas to the Chemical Biology team
  • Utilize literature searches to solve specific research problems
  • Learn, acquire, and apply new experimental techniques
  • Utilize training and resources (external and internal) to develop scientific skill set
  • Conduct manual and automated SMM screens
  • Work collaboratively across all functional areas
  • Maintain high standards of laboratory safety, comply with the safety manual and complete required training courses
  • Perform research in compliance with all applicable regulatory guidelines, as informed by supervisor


  • D. in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or related field
  • Able to understand and interpret small molecule characterization (NMR, LCMS, IR, etc.) and assay data (viability, reporter, HTRF, SPR, etc.) to inform follow-on experiments
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Simultaneously balance multiple tasks
  • Show initiative to expand scope and depth of technical competence
