Research Associate, Chemical Biology

Location: Cambridge, MA


Kronos Bio seeks a highly motivated Research Associate to join its chemical biology team located in Cambridge, MA. As a member of the chemical biology team, this individual will fabricate small molecule microarrays (SMMs) and facilitate advancement of SMM technology through surface chemistry and synthetic organic chemistry research. Key to this role will be conducting automated small molecule microarray screens, an integral component of the company’s drug discovery pipeline. The applicant is expected to have strong experimental skills, good communication ability, an eagerness for learning, and to contribute to a strong culture of teamwork and collaboration.


  • Fabricate small molecule microarrays
  • Conduct manual and automated SMM screens
  • Maintain automation equipment within the Chemical Biology group and train others in its use
  • Be able to understand failed experiments and propose modifications
  • Develop and apply knowledge of chemical biology to solve complex problems
  • Contribute new ideas to the Chemical Biology team
  • Utilize literature searches to solve specific research problems
  • Learn, acquire and apply new experimental techniques
  • Utilize training and resources (external and internal) to develop scientific skill set
  • Maintain high standards of laboratory safety, comply with the safety manual and complete required training courses
  • Perform research in compliance with all applicable regulatory guidelines, as informed by supervisor
  • Work collaboratively across all functional areas
  • Manage internal compound library and facilitate incoming and outgoing compound shipments
  • Assist with compound registration


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or related field with 0-5 years of experience
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Simultaneously balance multiple tasks
  • Show initiative to expand scope and depth of technical competence
  • Possess a detail oriented and organized work ethic
  • Act as technical resource in a defined area
  • Independently plan work to support team and project objectives
  • Work together with other members of a project team to accomplish team objectives
