Proteomics & Mass Spectrometry, Research Scientist

Location: Cambridge, MA


Kronos Bio seeks an enthusiastic, experienced analytical scientist to join our Proteomics Group.  As a member of an interdisciplinary team, this individual will be expected to employ multiple quantitative proteomics approaches to generate high-quality data to support multiple drug discovery programs.  The applicant is expected to have a robust experimental skill set, an eagerness for learning, and contribute to a strong culture of teamwork and collaboration in a fast-paced environment.


  • Perform deep proteome profiling studies to support target identification / deconvolution, target engagement, and mode-of-action (MOA) elucidation efforts in multiple drug discovery programs.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing innovative structure and chemical proteomic approaches to investigate protein-ligand interactions.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, quality control and troubleshooting of multiple proteomics instruments.
  • Prepare samples from complex biological matrices for LC-MS analysis.
  • Design and execute experiments independently; accurately record, analyze and present.


  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise in mass-spectrometry-based proteomics, including experiences within some of the following key areas: quantitative proteomics (TMT, SILAC, LFQ), post-translational modification characterization, and chemoproteomics.
  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in maintaining and troubleshooting nano LC-MS instrument required, ideally Thermo Orbitrap-based MS systems.
  • Experience in isolating protein from complex biological samples and sample processing workflow for LC-MS analysis.
  • Experience in analyzing and interpreting LC-MS/MS data using custom, public, and commercially available software suites (Proteome Discover, MaxQuant).
  • Ability to plan and troubleshoot experiments independently.
  • Attention to detail and strong record-keeping skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Flexibility to rapidly adapt workplans to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Proven track record of productive bench science with a strong publication record.
  • Experience in multi-dimensional LC fractionation is desirable.
  • Experience using HDX-MS or other methods to investigate ligand-protein and protein-protein interactions is desirable.
  • Experience with immuno- or chemical-affinity enrichment to selectively enrich proteins and chemical biology techniques such as photoaffinity labeling is desirable.
